We are sure that like us you are very concerned about how the increases in NLW and Employers NI will be funded.
As part of the National Care Associations Alliance, we have already written to the Secretary of State and have also contributed to a communication from the Care Providers Association, which includes Care England.
ECA Committee members will also be writing to local MPs and we urge our members to do the same, you can find your local MP using this link. ECA have drafted a template letter that you could use as a basis for this, although MPs tend to prefer individual letters. Please customise the letter and add any details about the impact on your business. If you are not a business owner, we still encourage you to write in your work capacity – Registered Manager; Deputy; Business Manager – to express your concerns. We have included a list of local MPs which can also be found at Find MPs - MPs and Lords - UK Parliament
Our Chair, Rahul Jagota, met with Rt Hon Priti Patel MP on 14th November to discuss the implication of these changes on social care providers. Rahul is also in contact with Nigel Farage and has a face to face meeting with James Cleverly on 6th December, where he will be supported by a number of members of the EXCA Committee.
As an Association, we will continue to lobby our local MPs and Health Leads on this issue, which will have a significant impact on our Members.
We will keep you up to date with developments over the coming weeks.
